Privacy Policy

Who we are

Our website address is: https://www.mind-parrot.com. We are an online resource dedicated to mental well-being, providing information, support, and guidance on topics like anxiety and relationships.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We collect personal data to help our website run effectively and to understand how our content is used. This allows us to improve the site and provide the best possible experience for our readers.

Jetpack by WordPress.com: We use Jetpack to improve site performance, security, and to understand how visitors use Mind Parrot. Jetpack may collect anonymised information such as page views, clicks, and general device details. This helps us monitor traffic and ensure the site runs smoothly. Jetpack does not share personally identifiable information with us, and you can learn more about their practices in Automattic’s Privacy Policy.

Rank Math: We use the Rank Math SEO plugin to monitor and improve our website’s search engine performance. Rank Math connects to Google Search Console and Google Analytics, collecting anonymised data such as keyword rankings and traffic statistics. It processes this data to provide us with insights on how to improve our content, but it does not collect any personally identifiable information from our visitors.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. We have disabled comments on our posts, but this policy covers any comments that may have been left in the past or if this feature is enabled in the future.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies:

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

We also use Google Analytics, which sets cookies on your device to help us track how our website is used. These cookies collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and the pages you visit. This data is anonymised and aggregated to give us a better understanding of our audience and how we can improve our content.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Our website provides links to our social media profiles. When you click on these links, you will be directed to those platforms, and their respective privacy policies will apply.

Who we share your data with

We share anonymised data with Google Analytics to help us track website traffic and user behaviour. We also use the Shareaholic plugin for social sharing, which may collect anonymised data about your interactions. Our SEO plugin, Rank Math, connects with Google Search Console and Google Analytics to help us improve our site’s visibility. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. We do not share any other personal data with third parties.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Google Analytics data is retained for a maximum period of 26 months.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. We use Google Analytics to process anonymised traffic and user behaviour data. This data is transferred and stored on Google’s servers.
